The Leica Automatic Polar System used in the application consists of an Automated total station providing continuous, timer controlled convergence measurements of high accuracy right around the clock. The primary use of the APS system is to monitor a network of reflectors placed in an area subject to deformation.
The Leica APSWin system is installed for monitoring an existing subway tunnel near a large construction site. The APS systems must measure and analyse the movement of predetermined points sets, 6 times daily at user specified times, even when trains are operating at peak levels. The customer required <<turnkey>> systems with measurement accuracy of 1mm at 100m and continuous operation for the years ahead.
This system replaces a labor intensive manual method that was slower, less accurate, less repeatable and required frequent access to highly restricted area. Measurement, data analysis and output are generated using a combination of standard and customized software packages that allows the customer to modify processes specific needs.
The Leica TCA2003 high performance automated total station meets the most demanding requirements. The outstanding accuracy and reliability in measurement makes them the the preferred instruments for deformation surveying.
